Hemed MbarukuHemed was born in 1975, he originates from the isle of Pemba. He had painted ever since his childhood and he was a master of fine arts. He moved to Dar es Salaam and joined TACS in 1988 with an aim of learning Tingatinga style. The cooperative needed an artist like him since TACS sometimes get orders to paint customers' faces in which field he soon became an expert. Hemed painted wonderful hospital scenes but also scenes from city life and traditional village life. A rather cubistic black and white zebra head became his very special new plan. His paintings have been exhibited in Switzerland and other parts of Europe as well as in Japan.
He died on Aug 14, 2016, after a long illness and left behind a widow with two daughters. The cooperative is mourning a wonderful artist, but also a kind and pleasant colleague.
