Yaphidu Ally MakakaYaphidu was born in 1976 in Nakapanya, Ruvuma District, where he studied up to primary level.
In 1990 he came to Dar es Salaam and started to learn to paint. His teacher was Azizi, his brother in law. Yaphidu is very good at using many bright colours and very fine brushes. He also spent a lot of years in South Africa painting, but is now back in Dar es Salaam. He is married and has two children.
